fast properly or do not bother. an eight hour fast and a twelve hour fast are different tests

- coa_or_cope — most of the lipid improvement in my panel tracked the weight, not the drug, ymmv 14:47
- belfast_bac — if a result frightens you, that is a conversation with a clinician. we will help you read it, we will not tell you it is fine 19:41
- a1c_lag — right so i had a potassium that came back high and the repeat was normal. the tube had been knocked about 19:45
- tokyo_taper — ferritin and b12 fall quietly when you are barely eating. check them twice a year 20:12
how much does the lipid panel move just from losing weight
my numbers: a1c and triglycerides both moved a lot, ldl barely moved at all
follow up nobody here is reading your bloods as a clinician. we are reading them as people who have had a lot of bloods
most of the lipid improvement in my panel tracked the weight, not the drug, ymmv
retest it
get a baseline
an isolated lipase a bit over range with no symptoms is usually nothing. lipase with severe pain is not, still working it out
apob is the better marker and it is harder to get. i track both because i can only get one reliably
crp is worth adding if you can, it moves in a useful direction on this
coming back to this update from 2 months ago: a1c down, apob unchanged, and i am genuinely annoyed about the apob
nice a1c
post the numbers
[edited]lipase slightly over range with no symptoms, how worried should i be
genuine question triglycerides halved. is that the weight or the compound
do you get bloods every 8 months or only when something changes
if you only get one thing, get a fasting insulin. it is the one that becomes impossible later
mine did the same
good numbers
thats the 90 day thing
a single weird electrolyte is very often a handling artefact. retest before you worry, thats just me
thats a big move
not a chat question
right so is there any point getting a1c if i am not diabetic
if your glucose is in mg/dL the divisor is 405. if it is mmol/L it is 22.5, thats one data point
what does homa-ir actually tell you that fasting insulin does not
apob or ldl, which one are you all actually tracking
is it too early to retest a1c at week 20
lab error maybe
if a result frightens you, that is a conversation with a clinician. we will help you read it, we will not tell you it is fine
genuine question homa-ir is fasting glucose times fasting insulin over a constant. the constant differs by unit system, ill dig out the number
right so i had a potassium that came back high and the repeat was normal. the tube had been knocked about
my b12 is borderline, supplementing or eating differently
a small egfr dip is often dehydration. rehydrate and retest before you panic, for what its worth
probably dehydration
i pay privately for fasting insulin because nobody will order it for me otherwise, anyway
[edited]ferritin and b12 fall quietly when you are barely eating. check them twice a year
