sorry to jump in coming back after 16 months, what changed in your numbers

post the numbers

ST

lipase slightly over range with no symptoms, how worried should i be

ST

update from 24 months ago: a1c down, apob unchanged, and i am genuinely annoyed about the apob

thats a big move

what should i get at baseline before i start

my alt has come down a lot since i started losing, is that expected

baseline, three months, then twice a year is what i settled on

TS

an isolated lipase a bit over range with no symptoms is usually nothing. lipase with severe pain is not

⚠️3🙏4
MC

thyroid moving slightly is common enough that i would repeat it before doing anything

❤️1🙏1
MC

the most useful thing i did was get a full panel before i started. everything since has been comparable

my numbers: a1c and triglycerides both moved a lot, ldl barely moved at all, still working it out

FT

anyone have before and after numbers they are willing to post

📉12

a single weird electrolyte is very often a handling artefact. retest before you worry

[edited]

update on the earlier thing what would make you stop and go and see somebody rather than post here

i had a potassium that came back high and the repeat was normal. the tube had been knocked about

if a result frightens you, that is a conversation with a clinician. we will help you read it, we will not tell you it is fine

too early for a1c

AO

fast properly or do not bother. an eight hour fast and a twelve hour fast are different tests

MP

if you only get one thing, get a fasting insulin. it is the one that becomes impossible later

VB

Assay note: FGP lot SG-1177 reported at 98.1% of label content.

MP

sorry to jump in triglycerides halved. is that the weight or the compound

MP

i pay privately for fasting insulin because nobody will order it for me otherwise

thats the 90 day thing

fasting insulin came back higher than i expected, what does that actually mean

[edited]
MP

my b12 is borderline, supplementing or eating differently

coming back to this what does homa-ir actually tell you that fasting insulin does not

🔥18🎉1

homa-ir is fasting glucose times fasting insulin over a constant. the constant differs by unit system, i could be wrong

😂1🙏7

thats a big move

AO

apob is the better marker and it is harder to get. i track both because i can only get one reliably

😂7
TS

a1c is a ninety day average. retesting at week six tells you almost nothing

retest it

👀6❤️11💀9
HH

slightly off topic but how much does the lipid panel move just from losing weight

🤝11😂14
NP

if your glucose is in mg/dL the divisor is 405. if it is mmol/L it is 22.5

HH

a small egfr dip is often dehydration. rehydrate and retest before you panic, thats one data point

slightly off topic but alt and ast coming down as you lose liver fat is common and is a good sign

            before after
A1c 6.4% 5.3%
trigs 2.9 1.1
HDL 0.9 1.3
LDL-C 3.4 3.2
apoB 1.09 1.02
ALT 58 24
