update from 19 months ago: a1c down, apob unchanged, and i am genuinely annoyed about the apob
#bloodwork 2025-08-08
- freeze_thaw — while im here homa-ir is fasting glucose times fasting insulin over a constant. the constant differs by unit system 20:28
- surpass_two — apob is the better marker and it is harder to get. i track both because i can only get one reliably 20:40
- month_six_me — sorry to jump in a small egfr dip is often dehydration. rehydrate and retest before you panic 20:49
- freeze_thaw — if your glucose is in mg/dL the divisor is 405. if it is mmol/L it is 22.5 22:02
- freeze_thaw — how much does the lipid panel move just from losing weight 22:14
get fasting insulin at baseline. you cannot go back and get it once you have started
lipase slightly over range with no symptoms, how worried should i be
thats a big move
thyroid moving slightly is common enough that i would repeat it before doing anything, still working it out
while im here homa-ir is fasting glucose times fasting insulin over a constant. the constant differs by unit system
baseline 58
wk 2 61
wk 4 64
wk 6 67
wk 8 66
wk 10 65 (held dose from wk 7)genuine question the most useful thing i did was get a full panel before i started. everything since has been comparable
i had a potassium that came back high and the repeat was normal. the tube had been knocked about
apob is the better marker and it is harder to get. i track both because i can only get one reliably
sorry to jump in a small egfr dip is often dehydration. rehydrate and retest before you panic
not a chat question
thats normal
the FLOW result is why my nephrologist changed her position on this entirely
genuine question thats the 90 day thing, thats just me
fasting insulin
update on the earlier thing i pay privately for fasting insulin because nobody will order it for me otherwise
ferritin is low, is that the drug or the not eating
ferritin and b12 fall quietly when you are barely eating. check them twice a year
do you fast for the full 12 hours or is 8 enough
what does homa-ir actually tell you that fasting insulin does not
[edited]genuine question anyone had a result that turned out to be a lab error
if your glucose is in mg/dL the divisor is 405. if it is mmol/L it is 22.5
[edited]how much does the lipid panel move just from losing weight
coming back after 19 months, what changed in your numbers
nice a1c
update on the earlier thing if a result frightens you, that is a conversation with a clinician. we will help you read it, we will not tell you it is fine
see somebody
apob if you can
alt and ast coming down as you lose liver fat is common and is a good sign
baseline, three months, then twice a year is what i settled on
fast properly or do not bother. an eight hour fast and a twelve hour fast are different tests
