let the alcohol dry. that is ninety percent of "my injections sting"
i keep the sharps bin next to the fridge so the whole thing happens in one place
does injecting a cold vial hurt more or am i imagining it
do you aspirate, or is that only an intramuscular thing
unrelated but i bled a bit, is that a needle depth thing
warm it first
cold from the fridge genuinely stings more. i let it sit out for ten minutes
pinch, 45 degrees, count to five, withdraw slowly. two years and almost no bruising, i could be wrong
ok so i mark the rotation in a notes app because the marks fade and i lost track twice
how many sites are in your rotation
nobody here should be telling you where to inject. we can tell you what we do
i changed nothing except letting the swab dry and the stinging stopped completely
anyone got a rotation map they would share
slightly off topic but coming back after 1 months, has the pinned technique guide changed
does the injection site matter for how quickly it hits
pinch
how far from the navel is actually far enough
do you use the insulin syringe for both drawing and injecting
do not reuse pins. it is not about sterility so much as the tip being blunt after one pass
warming the vial in your hand for a minute is the cheapest comfort improvement there is
[edited]never recap a used pin. that is how people stick themselves, i have it written down somewhere
a proper sharps bin costs almost nothing and pharmacies will take it back, still working it out
thats normal
*that should say weekly
thigh or abdomen, does absorption actually differ
how slowly should you actually push
push slow
i have eight sites and an eight week rotation. it is written on the fridge
a fresh pin for the injection hurts less. whether thats worth the extra dead space is your call
if you are getting a lot of bruising, look at how fast you are pushing before you blame the needle
update from 1 months ago: switched to a fixed rotation and the site reactions stopped
thats a reaction
[edited]31G 8mm for everything. i tried the 12.7mm once and never went back
whats your sharps disposal setup, mine is a jar and i know thats wrong
the difference between 29G and 31G is real but small. the difference between wet and dry alcohol is not small
welts at the site are usually a mild local reaction and rotation sorts it
bleeding a little means you nicked a small vessel. it is not a technique failure
try the thigh
