- ida_injects — do not reuse pins. it is not about sterility so much as the tip being blunt after one pass 10:54
- thursday_thea — a small air bubble subcutaneously is not dangerous. it costs you dose accuracy, thats the reason to clear it, happy to be corrected 11:02
- power_cut_pia — abdomen two inches out from the navel, avoiding anything that has been injected in the last month 11:45
- ida_injects — bleeding a little means you nicked a small vessel. it is not a technique failure 14:02
- vik_verifies — nobody here should be telling you where to inject. we can tell you what we do 14:10
sharps bin
for the archive i have eight sites and an eight week rotation. it is written on the fridge, we shall see
thigh or abdomen, does absorption actually differ
do not reuse pins. it is not about sterility so much as the tip being blunt after one pass
i keep the sharps bin next to the fridge so the whole thing happens in one place
push slowly. fast is what causes the ache afterwards
how far from the navel is actually far enough
a small air bubble subcutaneously is not dangerous. it costs you dose accuracy, thats the reason to clear it, happy to be corrected
mark it down
not a problem
abdomen two inches out from the navel, avoiding anything that has been injected in the last month
wk1 L abdo upper wk5 L thigh outer
wk2 R abdo upper wk6 R thigh outer
wk3 L abdo lower wk7 L arm back
wk4 R abdo lower wk8 R arm backsorry to jump in how slowly should you actually push
follow up pinch, 45 degrees, count to five, withdraw slowly. two years and almost no bruising
let the alcohol dry. that is ninety percent of "my injections sting"
i mark the rotation in a notes app because the marks fade and i lost track twice
a small air bubble subcutaneously is not dangerous. it costs you dose accuracy, thats the reason to clear it
is there any reason to warm the vial in your hand first
Recon calculator: 15mg in 0.5ml = 2mg/ml.
45 degrees
update from 17 months ago: switched to a fixed rotation and the site reactions stopped, for what its worth
29G in 8mm or 12.7mm for abdomen
90 degrees works fine if you have the tissue for it. 45 if you do not
do you count to five before withdrawing
anyone got a rotation map they would share
coming back after 1 months, has the pinned technique guide changed
do you aspirate, or is that only an intramuscular thing
i mark the rotation in a notes app because the marks fade and i lost track twice
bleeding a little means you nicked a small vessel. it is not a technique failure
nobody here should be telling you where to inject. we can tell you what we do
unrelated but do not aspirate for a subcutaneous injection, there is nothing to aspirate for
a fresh pin for the injection hurts less. whether thats worth the extra dead space is your call
cold from the fridge genuinely stings more. i let it sit out for ten minutes
i inject the back of my own arm and it is awkward but doable with a mirror
