- cagri_curious — the difference between 29G and 31G is real but small. the difference between wet and dry alcohol is not small 11:15
- mg_per_ml — how slowly should you actually push 14:21
- chlorhex — the needle went in fine but it stung going in, alcohol or the compound i mark the rotation in a notes app because the marks fade and i lost track twice 16:37
- chlorhex — right so i keep the sharps bin next to the fridge so the whole thing happens in one place a fresh pin for the injection hurts less. whether thats worth the extra dead… 16:41
for the archive anyone inject in the back of the arm on their own successfully
update from 4 months ago: switched to a fixed rotation and the site reactions stopped
the difference between 29G and 31G is real but small. the difference between wet and dry alcohol is not small
rotate
slightly off topic but nobody here should be telling you where to inject. we can tell you what we do
absorption differences between subcutaneous sites are small for a weekly compound
do you use the insulin syringe for both drawing and injecting
while im here warming the vial in your hand for a minute is the cheapest comfort improvement there is
do not reuse pins. it is not about sterility so much as the tip being blunt after one pass
do not reuse pins. it is not about sterility so much as the tip being blunt after one pass
not a problem
never recap a used pin. that is how people stick themselves
31G 8mm for everything. i tried the 12.7mm once and never went back
welts at the site are usually a mild local reaction and rotation sorts it
how do you avoid hitting the same spot twice when the marks fade
i changed nothing except letting the swab dry and the stinging stopped completely, from memory
how far from the navel is actually far enough
[edited]i bled a bit, is that a needle depth thing
try the thigh
if you are getting a lot of bruising, look at how fast you are pushing before you blame the needle
a proper sharps bin costs almost nothing and pharmacies will take it back, not advice obviously
90 degrees works fine if you have the tissue for it. 45 if you do not
31G 8mm
how slowly should you actually push
do you pinch or stretch
update on the earlier thing do you change the pin between drawing up and injecting
bleeding a little means you nicked a small vessel. it is not a technique failure
push slow
push slowly. fast is what causes the ache afterwards
i mark the rotation in a notes app because the marks fade and i lost track twice
abdomen two inches out from the navel, avoiding anything that has been injected in the last month
[edited]pinch, 45 degrees, count to five, withdraw slowly. two years and almost no bruising
is there any reason to warm the vial in your hand first
i have eight sites and an eight week rotation. it is written on the fridge
small bubble is fine
the needle went in fine but it stung going in, alcohol or the compound
i mark the rotation in a notes app because the marks fade and i lost track twice
thats a reaction
[edited]right so i keep the sharps bin next to the fridge so the whole thing happens in one place
a fresh pin for the injection hurts less. whether thats worth the extra dead space is your call
a small air bubble subcutaneously is not dangerous. it costs you dose accuracy, thats the reason to clear it
