coming back after 3 months, has the pinned technique guide changed
#injection-technique 2025-12-01
- two_three_lifts — do you aspirate, or is that only an intramuscular thing 10:30
- escalation_anxiety — i keep the sharps bin next to the fridge so the whole thing happens in one place, ask me again in a month i inject the back of my own arm and it is awkward but doable… 13:58
- VialBot — Purity check: no report on file for lot KP-0925. Nothing logged either way. 14:09
- turnaround_tam — 90 degrees works fine if you have the tissue for it. 45 if you do not 14:40
- turnaround_tam — drawing up with the same pin you inject with is fine, it just dulls the tip slightly, happy to be corrected 14:58
do you aspirate, or is that only an intramuscular thing
mark it down
dont recap
ok so never recap a used pin. that is how people stick themselves
a fresh pin for the injection hurts less. whether thats worth the extra dead space is your call
i keep getting a small welt at the site, technique or reaction
let it dry
slightly off topic but a small air bubble subcutaneously is not dangerous. it costs you dose accuracy, thats the reason to clear it
rotate
i changed nothing except letting the swab dry and the stinging stopped completely
try the thigh
let the alcohol dry. that is ninety percent of "my injections sting"
update from 25 months ago: switched to a fixed rotation and the site reactions stopped
i bled a bit, is that a needle depth thing
is bruising more about the needle or the aftercare
small bubble is fine
do not aspirate for a subcutaneous injection, there is nothing to aspirate for
31G 8mm
while im here a proper sharps bin costs almost nothing and pharmacies will take it back, ask me again in a month
pinch, 45 degrees, count to five, withdraw slowly. two years and almost no bruising
do not reuse pins. it is not about sterility so much as the tip being blunt after one pass
absorption differences between subcutaneous sites are small for a weekly compound
if you are getting a lot of bruising, look at how fast you are pushing before you blame the needle, n of 1 obviously
i inject the back of my own arm and it is awkward but doable with a mirror
nobody here should be telling you where to inject. we can tell you what we do
technique probably
do you change the pin between drawing up and injecting
do you use the insulin syringe for both drawing and injecting
i keep the sharps bin next to the fridge so the whole thing happens in one place, ask me again in a month
i inject the back of my own arm and it is awkward but doable with a mirror
thats normal
bleeding a little means you nicked a small vessel. it is not a technique failure
Purity check: no report on file for lot KP-0925. Nothing logged either way.
anyone inject in the back of the arm on their own successfully
90 degrees works fine if you have the tissue for it. 45 if you do not
sharps bin
push slow
[edited]the difference between 29G and 31G is real but small. the difference between wet and dry alcohol is not small
do you pinch or stretch
drawing up with the same pin you inject with is fine, it just dulls the tip slightly, happy to be corrected
thigh or abdomen, does absorption actually differ
i have eight sites and an eight week rotation. it is written on the fridge
cold from the fridge genuinely stings more. i let it sit out for ten minutes
