  • taipei_tare — if you are getting a lot of bruising, look at how fast you are pushing before you blame the needle 12:42
  • taipei_tare — a fresh pin for the injection hurts less. whether thats worth the extra dead space is your call 12:57
  • tenpence — do not aspirate for a subcutaneous injection, there is nothing to aspirate for 12:59

rotate

let the alcohol dry. that is ninety percent of "my injections sting"

thats normal

let it dry

never recap a used pin. that is how people stick themselves

pinch, 45 degrees, count to five, withdraw slowly. two years and almost no bruising

🎉1
FN

i mark the rotation in a notes app because the marks fade and i lost track twice

RR

i changed nothing except letting the swab dry and the stinging stopped completely, ask me again in a month

RR

coming back after 25 months, has the pinned technique guide changed

TT

anyone inject in the back of the arm on their own successfully

absorption differences between subcutaneous sites are small for a weekly compound

RT

the difference between 29G and 31G is real but small. the difference between wet and dry alcohol is not small

TT

sorry to jump in does the injection site matter for how quickly it hits

BR

do you pinch or stretch

slightly off topic but i bled a bit, is that a needle depth thing

nobody here should be telling you where to inject. we can tell you what we do

CH

cold from the fridge genuinely stings more. i let it sit out for ten minutes
a proper sharps bin costs almost nothing and pharmacies will take it back

CH

welts at the site are usually a mild local reaction and rotation sorts it

BR

push slowly. fast is what causes the ache afterwards

TT

a proper sharps bin costs almost nothing and pharmacies will take it back

how do you avoid hitting the same spot twice when the marks fade

quick one 90 degrees works fine if you have the tissue for it. 45 if you do not
i changed nothing except letting the swab dry and the stinging stopped completely

31G 8mm

thats a reaction

RR

i inject the back of my own arm and it is awkward but doable with a mirror

TT

a fresh pin for the injection hurts less. whether thats worth the extra dead space is your call

is a small air bubble in the barrel a problem subcutaneously

TE

do not aspirate for a subcutaneous injection, there is nothing to aspirate for

🙏9

bleeding a little means you nicked a small vessel. it is not a technique failure

quick one a small air bubble subcutaneously is not dangerous. it costs you dose accuracy, thats the reason to clear it, ymmv

TE

is bruising more about the needle or the aftercare
