- alt_ast_ali — i mark the rotation in a notes app because the marks fade and i lost track twice 19:29
- turnaround_tam — i keep getting a small welt at the site, technique or reaction 20:36
- ollie_orders — 31G 8mm for everything. i tried the 12.7mm once and never went back 20:53
- pinch_not_stretch — the difference between 29G and 31G is real but small. the difference between wet and dry alcohol is not small 22:12
never recap a used pin. that is how people stick themselves, for what its worth
try the thigh
drawing up with the same pin you inject with is fine, it just dulls the tip slightly, i could be wrong
sharps bin
Reminder for alt_ast_ali: dose day is today. Set 2 days ago.
let it dry
i mark the rotation in a notes app because the marks fade and i lost track twice
coming back after 18 months, has the pinned technique guide changed
i have eight sites and an eight week rotation. it is written on the fridge
90 degrees works fine if you have the tissue for it. 45 if you do not
do you pinch or stretch
follow up i keep the sharps bin next to the fridge so the whole thing happens in one place, i could be wrong
small bubble is fine
anyone got a rotation map they would share
cold from the fridge genuinely stings more. i let it sit out for ten minutes
pinch, 45 degrees, count to five, withdraw slowly. two years and almost no bruising
while im here is 31G noticeably better than 29G or is it marginal
if you are getting a lot of bruising, look at how fast you are pushing before you blame the needle
do not reuse pins. it is not about sterility so much as the tip being blunt after one pass
dont recap
whats your sharps disposal setup, mine is a jar and i know thats wrong
nobody here should be telling you where to inject. we can tell you what we do, i could be wrong
welts at the site are usually a mild local reaction and rotation sorts it
let the alcohol dry. that is ninety percent of "my injections sting"
rotate
i keep getting a small welt at the site, technique or reaction
mark it down
i changed nothing except letting the swab dry and the stinging stopped completely, anyway
[edited]update from 14 months ago: switched to a fixed rotation and the site reactions stopped
31G 8mm for everything. i tried the 12.7mm once and never went back
do not aspirate for a subcutaneous injection, there is nothing to aspirate for, n of 1 obviously
abdomen two inches out from the navel, avoiding anything that has been injected in the last month
do you change the pin between drawing up and injecting
coming back to this push slowly. fast is what causes the ache afterwards
thigh or abdomen, does absorption actually differ
bleeding a little means you nicked a small vessel. it is not a technique failure
pinch
wk1 L abdo upper wk5 L thigh outer
wk2 R abdo upper wk6 R thigh outer
wk3 L abdo lower wk7 L arm back
wk4 R abdo lower wk8 R arm backcoming back to this how do you avoid hitting the same spot twice when the marks fade
absorption differences between subcutaneous sites are small for a weekly compound
a small air bubble subcutaneously is not dangerous. it costs you dose accuracy, thats the reason to clear it
i inject the back of my own arm and it is awkward but doable with a mirror
a fresh pin for the injection hurts less. whether thats worth the extra dead space is your call
warming the vial in your hand for a minute is the cheapest comfort improvement there is
right so 31G in 8mm or 12.7mm for abdomen
the needle went in fine but it stung going in, alcohol or the compound
do you aspirate, or is that only an intramuscular thing
does injecting a cold vial hurt more or am i imagining it
the difference between 29G and 31G is real but small. the difference between wet and dry alcohol is not small

push slow
is bruising more about the needle or the aftercare
pinch, 45 degrees, count to five, withdraw slowly. two years and almost no bruising, thats just me
does the injection site matter for how quickly it hits
