Highlights from this day
  • drawup_dee — i bled a bit, is that a needle depth thing 19:01
  • cold_start_cy — a small air bubble subcutaneously is not dangerous. it costs you dose accuracy, thats the reason to clear it 19:19
  • drawup_dee — welts at the site are usually a mild local reaction and rotation sorts it 21:08

the difference between 29G and 31G is real but small. the difference between wet and dry alcohol is not small, thats one data point

thigh or abdomen, does absorption actually differ

31G 8mm for everything. i tried the 12.7mm once and never went back

while im here i keep the sharps bin next to the fridge so the whole thing happens in one place

coming back after 21 months, has the pinned technique guide changed

bleeding a little means you nicked a small vessel. it is not a technique failure, i could be wrong

BB

the needle went in fine but it stung going in, alcohol or the compound

DD

for the archive i changed nothing except letting the swab dry and the stinging stopped completely

if you are getting a lot of bruising, look at how fast you are pushing before you blame the needle

warm it first

i bled a bit, is that a needle depth thing

⚠️16👍4

small bubble is fine

CO

unrelated but i have eight sites and an eight week rotation. it is written on the fridge

for the archive is there any reason to warm the vial in your hand first

CS

ok so abdomen two inches out from the navel, avoiding anything that has been injected in the last month

a small air bubble subcutaneously is not dangerous. it costs you dose accuracy, thats the reason to clear it

DD

slightly off topic but a proper sharps bin costs almost nothing and pharmacies will take it back, we shall see

i mark the rotation in a notes app because the marks fade and i lost track twice

PP

i inject the back of my own arm and it is awkward but doable with a mirror

a fresh pin for the injection hurts less. whether thats worth the extra dead space is your call

📉7

absorption differences between subcutaneous sites are small for a weekly compound

⚠️3
CO

cold from the fridge genuinely stings more. i let it sit out for ten minutes, from memory

PP

do not reuse pins. it is not about sterility so much as the tip being blunt after one pass

*Medutest not the other one

90 degrees works fine if you have the tissue for it. 45 if you do not

⚠️7📈1

never recap a used pin. that is how people stick themselves

mark it down

warming the vial in your hand for a minute is the cheapest comfort improvement there is

technique probably

DD

unrelated but do you change the pin between drawing up and injecting

VB

Batch lookup B-0114: 2 independent reports on file, earliest 2025-08-24.

DD

welts at the site are usually a mild local reaction and rotation sorts it

let the alcohol dry. that is ninety percent of "my injections sting", ymmv

BB

do not aspirate for a subcutaneous injection, there is nothing to aspirate for
