do not aspirate for a subcutaneous injection, there is nothing to aspirate for
#injection-technique 2026-04-13
mark it down
31G 8mm
do not reuse pins. it is not about sterility so much as the tip being blunt after one pass
genuine question cold from the fridge genuinely stings more. i let it sit out for ten minutes
drawing up with the same pin you inject with is fine, it just dulls the tip slightly
sharps bin
a proper sharps bin costs almost nothing and pharmacies will take it back
do you count to five before withdrawing
i keep the sharps bin next to the fridge so the whole thing happens in one place
90 degrees or 45
i have eight sites and an eight week rotation. it is written on the fridge
dont recap
sorry to jump in update from 2 months ago: switched to a fixed rotation and the site reactions stopped, from memory
follow up i mark the rotation in a notes app because the marks fade and i lost track twice
anyone got a rotation map they would share
coming back after 15 months, has the pinned technique guide changed
a small air bubble subcutaneously is not dangerous. it costs you dose accuracy, thats the reason to clear it
rotate
thats a reaction
do you aspirate, or is that only an intramuscular thing
i bled a bit, is that a needle depth thing
drawing up with the same pin you inject with is fine, it just dulls the tip slightly
slightly off topic but is 31G noticeably better than 29G or is it marginal
