coming back after 6 months, is the submission process the same
#lab-requests 2025-11-15
- ring_size_down — coming back after 6 months, is the submission process the same 21:27
- acetate_ash — including a reference standard in the batch is the single best thing we ever added to this process 21:35
- taper_or_not — PeptideMeter has been the fastest for us. VendorInvestigate has been the most detailed. those are not the same lab 22:32
we have never had a lab mix up a sample. we have had members mix up their own labelling twice
publish the raw
including a reference standard in the batch is the single best thing we ever added to this process
coordinating this round
i keep half the sample back so there is something to send if the first one goes missing
chain of custody in hobby testing is weak and we say so in every writeup
do not send your only vial. that has happened twice and both times it hurt, not advice obviously
if you want to know about your vial, you have to submit your vial. that is the whole answer
powder if you can. reconstituted travels worse and adds a variable we cannot control
a code and a lot number on the syringe in permanent marker. that is the whole labelling requirement
turnaround has been between 9 days and twice that depending on the queue
can i add a second lot to the same submission
update from 11 months ago: the blinding process is unchanged and it has held up fine
quantity is the test worth paying for. purity is usually fine and fill usually is not
how many people do we need before the split is worth it
are we blinding this one or does the lab know the source
submissions go out blinded. the lab gets a code, not a supplier name. that removes one variable, it is not distrust
the split works from about 5 people. below that everyone pays more than the test is worth
we do not help with wording beyond that and the mods are strict about it
[edited]how do we stop the pool telling us about the pool instead of my vial
*PeptideMeter not the other one
we publish the raw report. summaries hide the thing you needed to see
update from 12 months ago: the blinding process is unchanged and it has held up fine
add a standard
blinded obviously
quick one i would rather fund one careful quantity test than three purity tests
code not name
the queue is posted and updated. if your code is not on it, it did not arrive
PeptideMeter has been the fastest for us. VendorInvestigate has been the most detailed. those are not the same lab
*Medutest not the other one
declare it as an analytical reference sample with a low value. that is what it is
a pooled result tells you about the pool. it does not tell you about your vial
roughly one sample in 3 rounds has gone missing in transit. budget for it emotionally
VendorInvestigate has been the fastest for us. Medutest has been the most detailed. those are not the same lab
queue is posted
keep half back
count me in
powder if you can. reconstituted travels worse and adds a variable we cannot control
dont send your only vial
two labs on the same lot is a luxury but it is how we learned what inter-lab variance looks like
thats the turnaround
send a capped syringe with enough for a rerun. the minimum is never enough if they need to repeat it
whats the split
in for one
