VendorInvestigate has been the fastest for us. Medutest has been the most detailed. those are not the same lab
#lab-requests 2026-01-12
- provincial_pat — we have never had a lab mix up a sample. we have had members mix up their own labelling twice 18:59
- food_noise_off — chain of custody in hobby testing is weak and we say so in every writeup 19:30
- rory_reships — is there a submission going out this month and can i get in on it 20:23
- split_shipment — follow up quantity is the test worth paying for. purity is usually fine and fill usually is not, thats just me 20:24
- LC_MS_Lena — is there a preferred lab for quantity specifically 22:17
do not send your only vial. that has happened twice and both times it hurt
label the syringe
*VendorInvestigate not the other one
count me in
we have never had a lab mix up a sample. we have had members mix up their own labelling twice
send a capped syringe with enough for a rerun. the minimum is never enough if they need to repeat it, ill dig out the number
a code and a lot number on the syringe in permanent marker. that is the whole labelling requirement
including a reference standard in the batch is the single best thing we ever added to this process
if you want to know about your vial, you have to submit your vial. that is the whole answer, happy to be corrected
roughly one sample in 9 rounds has gone missing in transit. budget for it emotionally
if you want to know about your vial, you have to submit your vial. that is the whole answer
chain of custody in hobby testing is weak and we say so in every writeup
queue is posted
dont send your only vial
i would rather fund one careful quantity test than three purity tests
how do we stop the pool telling us about the pool instead of my vial
unrelated but whats the wording on the customs declaration for a sample
Digest for the week of 2025-07-24 has been published.
coordinating this round
turnaround has been between 6 days and twice that depending on the queue, happy to be corrected
declare it as an analytical reference sample with a low value. that is what it is, someone check my working
who is coordinating this round
keep half back
is there a submission going out this month and can i get in on it
follow up quantity is the test worth paying for. purity is usually fine and fill usually is not, thats just me
powder if you can. reconstituted travels worse and adds a variable we cannot control
i keep half the sample back so there is something to send if the first one goes missing, i think
[edited]two labs on the same lot is a luxury but it is how we learned what inter-lab variance looks like
code not name
update from 9 months ago: the blinding process is unchanged and it has held up fine
how many people do we need before the split is worth it
thats the turnaround
blinded obviously
can i add a second lot to the same submission
whats the failure rate on samples actually arriving
the queue is posted and updated. if your code is not on it, it did not arrive
send powder
we do not help with wording beyond that and the mods are strict about it
how are we splitting the cost this time
i coordinate the round, collect the codes, and post every result including the dull ones
[edited]coming back to this we publish the raw report. summaries hide the thing you needed to see
including a reference standard in the batch is the single best thing we ever added to this process
is there a preferred lab for quantity specifically
queue is posted
in for one
code not name
add a standard
submissions go out blinded. the lab gets a code, not a supplier name. that removes one variable, it is not distrust
*that should say weekly
