went back up, no regrets
#maintenance 2025-10-15
- vienna_vial — im holding at 12 for maintenance and wondering whether i should be lower 17:46
- travel_cooler — i think about it the way i think about my blood pressure tablet, and that framing helped me more than anything else 18:23
- travel_cooler — SURMOUNT-OSA is the stopping one. weight came back on for most people once the drug stopped. that is the finding, not an opinion 18:44
- travel_cooler — nobody here can tell you whether to stop. we can tell you what happened to us when we did 18:46
no data on that
SURMOUNT-1 is the one where they stopped and it came back isnt it, has anyone read the actual numbers
two or three kilos up and down is normal fluctuation. ten is a different conversation, ymmv
lower frequency maintenance is genuinely unstudied. anybody telling you it is proven is making that up, for what its worth
dropping to a maintenance dose was uneventful for me and completely miserable for somebody i talk to weekly, ill dig out the number
mine didnt hold
anyone gone off entirely and stayed off successfully
i was wrong about maintenance being the easy part and i had said so loudly for a year beforehand
a 10mg vial at a 2mg maintenance dose is five weeks of doses, so my monthly cost roughly halved, ymmv
i set a trigger weight instead of a target. if i cross it i go up a rung. that is my entire plan
i weigh weekly at maintenance rather than daily and my range is about two kilos either side
i went to every ten days at a low dose and it held for me. n of 1, and i keep saying that out loud
i was wrong about maintenance being the easy part and i had said so loudly for a year beforehand
appetite returning is not the drug failing, it is the drug doing less because you are taking less of it
thats fluctuation
the muscle question is the one i wish i had taken seriously at month two instead of month twelve
i tried to come down and could not hold it, went back to treatment dose, and stopped apologising for it
set a trigger weight
there is no trial on every ten days or every fortnight. people here do it and report on it and that is all we have
unrelated but protein went up during maintenance for me rather than down, which was completely counterintuitive, we shall see
thats SELECT
no official dose
food noise coming back at a lower dose settled again after about four weeks for me, i could be wrong
i came off for four months, put 84 back on, and came back. no drama in it, just numbers
quick one appetite returning is not the drug failing, it is the drug doing less because you are taking less of it
i lift twice a week specifically because losing fast without it cost me more than i was willing to lose, ill dig out the number
i stayed at treatment dose for four months past goal and then came down slowly. that order was right for me
holidays at maintenance are fine, i take the dose on the day and stop thinking about it
how do people handle a two week holiday at a maintenance dose
i weigh weekly at maintenance rather than daily and my range is about two kilos either side
still at maintenance
im holding at 12 for maintenance and wondering whether i should be lower
there is no official maintenance dose. it is a thing we do because the alternative on the table was stopping
protein up not down
right so the maintenance conversation barely existed in here two years ago and now it is half the channel, not advice obviously
protein went up during maintenance for me rather than down, which was completely counterintuitive
how much protein were people eating at maintenance compared to while losing
how much regain did people get in the first 21 months after stopping
i think about it the way i think about my blood pressure tablet, and that framing helped me more than anything else
same as a bp tablet
[edited]how do you decide youre actually at maintenance rather than just stalled
coming back to this appetite came back over about three weeks after i reduced, not all at once, which is what i had braced for
genuine question the honest answer to is this forever is that nobody knows and the drug only works while you are taking it
SURMOUNT-OSA is the stopping one. weight came back on for most people once the drug stopped. that is the finding, not an opinion
nobody here can tell you whether to stop. we can tell you what happened to us when we did
