#reconstitution 2025-01-31

Highlights from this day
  • bac_water_bill — took me a year to stop over-diluting. the measurement error at 4 units is worse than the convenience 19:53
  • septum_sal — i keep a spare vial of bac water in the fridge purely so i never rush the maths 19:58
  • bac_water_bill — sorry to jump in the meniscus thing is real. read it at eye level or you are guessing by a unit either way, ask me again in a month 20:32
  • septum_sal — i use bac water even for a single-use vial because it stings less, which is not the reason it exists 21:37
  • septum_sal — 30mg in 3ml is 10mg/ml, so 5mg is 50 units. half the barrel, feels like a lot but its right, your mileage will differ 22:24

is a slightly cloudy solution ever ok or is that always a bin it

SS

do i swirl for a specific length of time or just until its clear

is the meniscus reading actually a real source of error or am i overthinking

it foamed. is it ruined

dead space in a standard insulin syringe hub is small but it is not nothing over a month

U-100 syringe: 1 unit = 0.01 ml
  10u = 0.10 ml
  25u = 0.25 ml
  50u = 0.50 ml
 100u = 1.00 ml
mg drawn = ml drawn x mg/ml

i write the mg/ml on the vial with a sharpie the moment i reconstitute it

the vacuum will pull it in. let it. fighting it is how you get a face full of aerosol
