Highlights from this day
  • vienna_vial — update from 16 months ago: switched to a single concentration and have not miscalculated since, thats just me 12:12
  • fake_tracking — i write the mg/ml on the vial with a sharpie the moment i reconstitute it 12:30
  • vienna_vial — does temperature of the bac water matter at all lyophilised powder is far more robust than people think. it is the solution that is fragile 13:07
  • vienna_vial — 10mg in 1ml is 10mg/ml, so 2.5mg is 25 units. thats the one i use if the powder is on the stopper, tap it down before you add anything. it will still dissolve either… 13:28
  • nordic_price_nils — right so weighing the vial before you reconstitute is the only way to catch an underfill 14:03

thats the vacuum

not sterile water

update from 16 months ago: switched to a single concentration and have not miscalculated since, thats just me

do not add more bac water to an already reconstituted vial, you have lost track of the concentration

FT

the jewellery scale is a good habit but calibrate it, they drift badly

FT

i write the mg/ml on the vial with a sharpie the moment i reconstitute it

👍1📈17

is it normal for the cake to look slightly collapsed on one side

VV

the meniscus thing is real. read it at eye level or you are guessing by a unit either way

RO

my 10mg vial weighed 11.4g on the jewellery scale, is that wrong

VV

does temperature of the bac water matter at all
lyophilised powder is far more robust than people think. it is the solution that is fragile

VV

is a slightly cloudy solution ever ok or is that always a bin it

VV

10mg in 1ml is 10mg/ml, so 2.5mg is 25 units. thats the one i use
if the powder is on the stopper, tap it down before you add anything. it will still dissolve either way

VV

my vial pulled the water in on its own, is that the vacuum or did i do something

coming back to this sanity check my maths before i pin myself with something stupid

anyone worked out a recon volume that puts 7.5mg on a round unit mark

NP

right so weighing the vial before you reconstitute is the only way to catch an underfill

🤝5🎉3👀1

if the maths gives you 13.7 units, change the volume. do not try to hit 13.7

ST

does it matter if i inject the bac water straight at the powder

ST

quick one temperature of the diluent does not matter. how fast you push it in does

can i add more bac water later to a vial ive already reconstituted

FT

genuine question what do you do with the last 20 units when you cant draw them cleanly

NP

if you draw up with a bigger pin and inject with a fresh one you lose a bit more to dead space

bac water

right so whats the smallest volume you would trust yourself to measure on a u100

TO

a slightly collapsed cake is cosmetic. a puddle in the bottom is not
