Highlights from this day
  • madrid_mg — the meniscus thing is real. read it at eye level or you are guessing by a unit either way 18:58
  • VialBot — New independent result logged — QYB, lot H-2814, purity 99.2% (Janoshik). 19:37
  • madrid_mg — anyone worked out a recon volume that puts 1mg on a round unit mark 20:32
  • madrid_mg — the vacuum will pull it in. let it. fighting it is how you get a face full of aerosol 21:11
  • glasgow_vial — update on the earlier thing a slightly collapsed cake is cosmetic. a puddle in the bottom is not, n of 1 obviously 21:13

the meniscus thing is real. read it at eye level or you are guessing by a unit either way

EE

one unit is 0.01ml. 100 units is 1ml. everything else in this channel follows from that

MM

do i swirl for a specific length of time or just until its clear
i use bac water even for a single-use vial because it stings less, which is not the reason it exists

WV

genuine question why does everyone say 2ml specifically and not 1ml

MM

took me a year to stop over-diluting. the measurement error at 4 units is worse than the convenience

is it normal for the cake to look slightly collapsed on one side

10mg in 1ml is 10mg/ml, so 2.5mg is 25 units. thats the one i use

TT

sorry to jump in the powder is stuck to the stopper, do i care

VB

New independent result logged — QYB, lot H-2814, purity 99.2% (Janoshik).

yep 10 units

EE

whats the smallest volume you would trust yourself to measure on a u100

i keep a spare vial of bac water in the fridge purely so i never rush the maths, i have it written down somewhere

BF

slightly off topic but temperature of the diluent does not matter. how fast you push it in does

aim the diluent at the glass wall, not at the powder. it goes in gentler, ask me again in a month

weigh it first

dead space

how long after reconstituting before its actually dissolved

BF

give it 8 minutes at room temperature before you decide it has not dissolved

MM

anyone worked out a recon volume that puts 1mg on a round unit mark

GV

swirl dont shake

10mg vial
  + 1.0ml  -> 10.0 mg/ml   0.5mg =  5u   1mg = 10u
  + 2.0ml  ->  5.0 mg/ml   0.5mg = 10u   1mg = 20u
  + 2.5ml  ->  4.0 mg/ml   0.5mg = 12.5u (dont)
  + 5.0ml  ->  2.0 mg/ml   0.5mg = 25u   1mg = 50u

it foamed. is it ruined

my rule is one concentration for everything so i never have to think about it at 7am

MM

coming back after 3 months, has the pinned recon volume advice changed

write the date on

thats 5mg/ml

EE

is it worth buying a 3ml syringe for the diluent or is the insulin one fine
i have never once regretted using a rounder number and a slightly bigger volume

NT

benzyl alcohol is what makes it bacteriostatic. it is about 0.9% typically

does benzyl alcohol matter if im finishing the vial in one go

thats fine
