Highlights from this day
  • identity_shift — bacteriostatic water for anything multi-use. sterile water has no preservative in it at all 15:45
  • steady_state_sue — does benzyl alcohol matter if im finishing the vial in one go 16:31
  • vialkeeper — slightly off topic but coming back after 26 months, has the pinned recon volume advice changed 18:01
IS

the last few units are a real loss. i accept it rather than tilting the vial and drawing air

bacteriostatic water for anything multi-use. sterile water has no preservative in it at all

10mg vial
  + 1.0ml  -> 10.0 mg/ml   0.5mg =  5u   1mg = 10u
  + 2.0ml  ->  5.0 mg/ml   0.5mg = 10u   1mg = 20u
  + 2.5ml  ->  4.0 mg/ml   0.5mg = 12.5u (dont)
  + 5.0ml  ->  2.0 mg/ml   0.5mg = 25u   1mg = 50u
IS

do not add more bac water to an already reconstituted vial, you have lost track of the concentration

FF

i keep a spare vial of bac water in the fridge purely so i never rush the maths

PF

for the archive can i add more bac water later to a vial ive already reconstituted

genuine question im getting bubbles in the barrel every single time, what am i doing wrong
label the date too. you will not remember which vial is which by week 23

SS

if you draw up with a bigger pin and inject with a fresh one you lose a bit more to dead space

20mg in 2ml is 10mg/ml. 1mg is 10 units, 2mg is 20 units, easy

does temperature of the bac water matter at all

FF

is it normal for the cake to look slightly collapsed on one side

MP

genuine question 10mg in 1ml is 10mg/ml, so 2.5mg is 25 units. thats the one i use

FF

coming back to this the powder is stuck to the stopper, do i care

how do you all measure a half unit, or do you just not

FF

it should be completely clear with no floaters. cloudy means stop

VI

slightly off topic but coming back after 26 months, has the pinned recon volume advice changed

⚠️10
VI

a 3ml syringe for the diluent and a u100 for the dose is the setup most people here end up with

VB

Purity check: no report on file for lot H-2814. Nothing logged either way.

FF

10mg in 2ml is 5mg/ml. so 0.5mg is 0.1ml which is 10 units on a u100

VI

30mg in 3ml is 10mg/ml, so 5mg is 50 units. half the barrel, feels like a lot but its right

my vial pulled the water in on its own, is that the vacuum or did i do something

unrelated but i use bac water even for a single-use vial because it stings less, which is not the reason it exists

a slightly collapsed cake is cosmetic. a puddle in the bottom is not

FF

weighing the vial before you reconstitute is the only way to catch an underfill
