Highlights from this day
  • apob_over_ldl — do not add more bac water to an already reconstituted vial, you have lost track of the concentration my rule is one concentration for everything so i never have to… 22:32
  • apob_over_ldl — does benzyl alcohol matter if im finishing the vial in one go 22:39
  • oasis_ola — the last few units are a real loss. i accept it rather than tilting the vial and drawing air 23:32

my 10mg vial weighed 11.4g on the jewellery scale, is that wrong

U-100 syringe: 1 unit = 0.01 ml
  10u = 0.10 ml
  25u = 0.25 ml
  50u = 0.50 ml
 100u = 1.00 ml
mg drawn = ml drawn x mg/ml

do not add more bac water to an already reconstituted vial, you have lost track of the concentration
my rule is one concentration for everything so i never have to think about it at 7am

gross powder mass is not net peptide. water and counterion are in that number, ask me again in a month

15mg in 3ml is 5mg/ml. same numbers as 10 in 2, just more of it

one unit is 0.01ml

does benzyl alcohol matter if im finishing the vial in one go

right so if you draw up with a bigger pin and inject with a fresh one you lose a bit more to dead space

OO

does it matter if i inject the bac water straight at the powder

coming back to this do you draw up with the same pin you inject with

i swirl for about thirty seconds and then leave it. never had one fail to dissolve

what do you do with the last 5 units when you cant draw them cleanly

dead space in a standard insulin syringe hub is small but it is not nothing over a month, thats one data point

MM

one unit is 0.01ml. 100 units is 1ml. everything else in this channel follows from that

BB

it should be completely clear with no floaters. cloudy means stop

10mg in 2ml is 5mg/ml. so 0.5mg is 0.1ml which is 10 units on a u100

1

5mg in 2ml gives 2.5mg/ml, 0.25mg is 10 units. good for a starting dose

the powder is stuck to the stopper, do i care

BB

lyophilised powder is far more robust than people think. it is the solution that is fragile

anyone else find the 20mg vials harder to get fully dissolved than the small ones

EE

temperature of the diluent does not matter. how fast you push it in does

i have never once regretted using a rounder number and a slightly bigger volume

swirl dont shake

5

anyone got a photo of what a properly dissolved vial looks like

you can absolutely just always use 2ml, and honestly most of us should

OO

30mg in 3ml is 10mg/ml, so 5mg is 50 units. half the barrel, feels like a lot but its right

the last few units are a real loss. i accept it rather than tilting the vial and drawing air

OO

im getting bubbles in the barrel every single time, what am i doing wrong

i was wrong about this last year: it is fine to draw cold, it just stings more going in

not sterile water

EE

benzyl alcohol is what makes it bacteriostatic. it is about 0.9% typically

weighing the vial before you reconstitute is the only way to catch an underfill
