if you are worried after a bad transit, test it. that is what the testing channels are for

- peak_split — then you are fine. dry powder is far more robust than people assume. that is the entire reason it is freeze dried 20:13
- dog_person_dev — came back where i expected. one data point, not a study 20:55
- bea_reconstitutes — collection point or a work address. mailboxes in summer are ovens 23:03
is a five pound fridge thermometer actually worth it
do i need to worry about light exposure or is that overthinking
coming back after 10 months, is the pinned storage table still current
how long is reconstituted actually good for at room temperature
i would use it
i keep everything at the back of the middle shelf, never the door, ymmv
[edited]my fridge is running at 4.8, is that out of range
genuine question flying with vials, hand luggage or checked
i freeze aliquots and have had them test fine afterwards. others here would not do it and i understand why
i left a reconstituted vial out overnight once, sent it for testing out of curiosity, it came back fine
do you keep the unopened vials and the in-use one in the same place
package sat in a metal mailbox in 32C sun for about six hours. gel packs are liquid and warm. is it dead
almost certainly not
it shipped as lyophilised powder, yes?
yes. sealed vials, dry powder
then you are fine. dry powder is far more robust than people assume. that is the entire reason it is freeze dried
so why bother with cool packs at all
margin, and because some shipments spend three weeks in a customs shed. the packs are for the worst case, not the normal one
mine arrive warm nine times out of ten and i have never had a bad assay
i had one arrive with the vials genuinely hot to the touch. tested it out of curiosity
came back where i expected. one data point, not a study
purity is not the whole answer. aggregation can happen without moving a purity number much
but for a powder that spent a day warm, i would not lose sleep
what would worry you
already-reconstituted liquid arriving warm. that is a different conversation
nobody should be shipping you reconstituted anything
agreed, and yet people do it
so the rule is powder warm equals fine, liquid warm equals suspicious
roughly. and repeated cycles are worse than one long warm spell
the mailbox part is really a delivery problem. i switched to a pickup point
collection point or a work address. mailboxes in summer are ovens
doing that from now on
and get it in the fridge when it lands, even though it did not have to be
no harm in that. powder in the cold is powder that stays boring
mixed one. dissolved clean, no cloudiness, no bits
so six hours in a hot mailbox did nothing observable. logging that with the others
small sample of one but i will take it
