Highlights from this day
  • gall_bladder_gav — unopened and in-use in the same place is fine. just keep the in-use one where you can reach it, i think 21:51
  • knees_first — i left a reconstituted vial out overnight once, sent it for testing out of curiosity, it came back fine 21:52
  • knees_first — flying with vials, hand luggage or checked 22:38
  • LC_MS_Lena — hotel minibars are frequently not cold enough. i take a thermometer, which is ridiculous and also correct 22:41

i would bin it

🧪1🧊9

the door swings four or five degrees every time somebody opens it. the back barely moves

update on the earlier thing i freeze aliquots and have had them test fine afterwards. others here would not do it and i understand why

KF

nobody here can tell you a vial is safe. we can tell you what has and has not survived for us

RT

update from 3 months ago: replaced the fridge, temperature is stable, no more anxiety

[edited]
CC

light exposure matters much less than temperature for these. i still keep them in the carton

MO

lyophilised at room temp for 5 days in transit, worried or not

📉10

buy a thermometer. mine reads 4 on the door and two degrees lower at the back

is a five pound fridge thermometer actually worth it

[edited]

coming back after 9 months, is the pinned storage table still current

i would use it

🧊17❤️11

for the archive i have never had a lyophilised vial fail after a warm transit and i have had some bad ones

lyophilised powder is genuinely robust. a warm transit is far less likely to matter than people fear

🧊7😂1

buy a thermometer

how long is reconstituted actually good for at room temperature

MO

a liquid cold pack tells you it was above freezing, not that your vial cooked

anyone had a vial visibly change after a warm transit

freeze debate again

LM

hotel minibars are frequently not cold enough. i take a thermometer, which is ridiculous and also correct

📈15👀9

the vial that visibly changed after a warm transit was the one that had already been reconstituted

GB

ok so a cooler with two gel packs held under eight degrees for eleven hours on a drive
