Highlights from this day
  • lead_time_lars — how cold is too cold, can it actually freeze in a normal fridge 15:14
  • relabel_watch — slightly off topic but light exposure matters much less than temperature for these. i still keep them in the carton 17:28
  • cold_pack_carla — a few hours at room temperature is almost certainly nothing. a week is a different conversation, i have it written down somewhere 18:27
  • two_four_ceiling — coming back to this i freeze aliquots and have had them test fine afterwards. others here would not do it and i understand why 18:48

i left a reconstituted vial out overnight once, sent it for testing out of curiosity, it came back fine

RW

the door swings four or five degrees every time somebody opens it. the back barely moves

coming back after 12 months, is the pinned storage table still current

VI

does the amber vial thing matter or is it marketing

a cooler with two gel packs held under eight degrees for eleven hours on a drive

freeze thaw cycling is the risk, not one freeze. that is my read of it anyway

two to eight

how cold is too cold, can it actually freeze in a normal fridge

if you are worried after a bad transit, test it. that is what the testing channels are for

VI

unopened and in-use in the same place is fine. just keep the in-use one where you can reach it

LT

reconstituted solution is the fragile part. that is where the cold chain actually earns its keep

LT

lyophilised powder is genuinely robust. a warm transit is far less likely to matter than people fear

how do you keep it cold on a long drive in summer

slightly off topic but light exposure matters much less than temperature for these. i still keep them in the carton
