Highlights from this day
  • luerlok — while im here warming the vial in your hand for a minute is the cheapest comfort improvement there is, i have it written down somewhere 17:07
  • VialBot — Reminder for swirl_not_shake: dose day is today. Set 3 days ago. 17:35
  • two_eight_c — do not aspirate for a subcutaneous injection, there is nothing to aspirate for 17:53
  • two_eight_c — update from 21 months ago: switched to a fixed rotation and the site reactions stopped abdomen two inches out from the navel, avoiding anything that has been injected… 17:56
  • luerlok — right so do not reuse pins. it is not about sterility so much as the tip being blunt after one pass 18:04
SN

i mark the rotation in a notes app because the marks fade and i lost track twice

SN

a fresh pin for the injection hurts less. whether thats worth the extra dead space is your call

right so a proper sharps bin costs almost nothing and pharmacies will take it back

RT

drawing up with the same pin you inject with is fine, it just dulls the tip slightly

DE

pinch, 45 degrees, count to five, withdraw slowly. two years and almost no bruising

i bled a bit, is that a needle depth thing

LU

anyone inject in the back of the arm on their own successfully

LU

while im here warming the vial in your hand for a minute is the cheapest comfort improvement there is, i have it written down somewhere

i keep getting a small welt at the site, technique or reaction

SN

slightly off topic but 90 degrees works fine if you have the tissue for it. 45 if you do not

do not aspirate for a subcutaneous injection, there is nothing to aspirate for

update from 21 months ago: switched to a fixed rotation and the site reactions stopped
abdomen two inches out from the navel, avoiding anything that has been injected in the last month

LU

right so do not reuse pins. it is not about sterility so much as the tip being blunt after one pass

how slowly should you actually push

i keep the sharps bin next to the fridge so the whole thing happens in one place

*Janoshik not the other one

do you pinch or stretch

LU

bleeding a little means you nicked a small vessel. it is not a technique failure, from memory

LU

right so thigh or abdomen, does absorption actually differ

CH

let the alcohol dry. that is ninety percent of "my injections sting"

sorry to jump in do you use the insulin syringe for both drawing and injecting

mark it down
