Highlights from this day
  • typosquat_tay — blank gets opened. wrong-but-boring often does not 20:57
  • void_volume — sealed vial in a small bubble sleeve inside a padded envelope. no cold pack, no ice, dry powder does not need it and a leaking cold pack has ruined at least two… 21:09
  • tarpit_tam — from what people have actually logged in here: 21:17
  • void_volume — unrelated but the Qingdao Sigma vial i sent came with a desiccant sachet in the box and that is the first time i have seen that from any reseller 22:06
  • tarpit_tam — photograph everything before it goes in the envelope. you cannot go back 22:14

including a reference standard in the batch is the single best thing we ever added to this process

[edited]

we have never had a lab mix up a sample. we have had members mix up their own labelling twice

how much sample does the lab need for purity plus quantity

ok so whats the wording on the customs declaration for a sample

what happens if a submission gets lost in transit
turnaround has been between 5 days and twice that depending on the queue

if you want to know about your vial, you have to submit your vial. that is the whole answer

🎉10

send powder

coordinating this round

👀12

blinded obviously

PS

update on the earlier thing we do not help with wording beyond that and the mods are strict about it

ok so whats the failure rate on samples actually arriving

CC

update on the earlier thing a pooled result tells you about the pool. it does not tell you about your vial

VV

analytical reference sample, no commercial value, and a low declared value. that is what has worked for everyone i know

TT

and it is also true, which is the part that matters. it is a sample being sent for analysis and it has no resale value

NP

do not write peptide, do not write pharmaceutical, do not write medicine, and do not leave it blank

TT

to be careful here: none of us are telling you to misdeclare anything. the accurate description happens to be the boring one

ST

correct and that distinction matters. we describe it accurately, we just do not describe it dramatically

VV

sealed vial in a small bubble sleeve inside a padded envelope. no cold pack, no ice, dry powder does not need it and a leaking cold pack has ruined at least two samples in here

TT

a cold pack that thaws is a bag of water sitting next to your hygroscopic powder for a week. it is worse than doing nothing

TT

from what people have actually logged in here:

StageTypicalWorst seen
post to lab receipt (intra-EU)3 – 6 days11 days
post to lab receipt (UK to EU)5 – 9 days5 weeks, customs hold
post to lab receipt (from Canada)7 – 14 days6 weeks
lab queue before analysis2 – 7 days3 weeks in December
analysis to report issued1 – 4 days2 weeks
realistic end to end2 – 4 weeks8 weeks

TT

the December queue thing is real, everybody submits at once and then complains

ST

you send it last month. plan a month back from when you want the number

VV

and do not chase the lab at day four. they are not slow, the post is slow

TT

the lab is almost never the bottleneck. it is us and the couriers

NP

which is why the paired-shipping thing matters so much. if all four samples travelled together you can at least say the transit was identical

WW

what about tracking the internal handoff, does anyone log when they opened the box

TT

some of us do. it is one line in a text file and it has settled two arguments

TT

i log: sealed date, opened, decanted yes or no, posted, delivered, report date. six fields

VV

unrelated but the Qingdao Sigma vial i sent came with a desiccant sachet in the box and that is the first time i have seen that from any reseller

TT

small thing, real signal. someone there is thinking about moisture

ST

the GGPeps parcels i have had were bare vials in bubble wrap, which is fine for transit and tells you nothing about how they were stored before

TT

photograph everything before it goes in the envelope. you cannot go back

10

is there a queue position i can check

publish the raw

GG

declare it as an analytical reference sample with a low value. that is what it is, i have it written down somewhere

MC

quantity is the test worth paying for. purity is usually fine and fill usually is not

i coordinate the round, collect the codes, and post every result including the dull ones
