i weigh weekly at maintenance rather than daily and my range is about two kilos either side

AO

everybody i have seen stop and hold it did something else as well, without exception in my time here

m0 118.4
m1 113.9
m2 110.2
m3 108.8
m4 108.1 <- the stall
m5 105.0
m6 101.6
m7 99.2
TW

follow up how do you decide youre actually at maintenance rather than just stalled

SB

the muscle question is the one i wish i had taken seriously at month two instead of month twelve

im at goal and nobody has told me what happens next, whats the room doing

RS

SURPASS-2 is the one where they stopped and it came back isnt it, has anyone read the actual numbers

RS

FLOW is the stopping one. weight came back on for most people once the drug stopped. that is the finding, not an opinion

SB

the food noise came back at the lower dose, does it settle again
update from 2 months ago: still at maintenance, still boring, which was always the goal

RS

right so the maintenance conversation barely existed in here two years ago and now it is half the channel

CC

coming back after 9 months of maintenance, is anyone interested in the numbers

SB

nobody here can tell you whether to stop. we can tell you what happened to us when we did

🧊2

dropping to a maintenance dose was uneventful for me and completely miserable for somebody i talk to weekly

GC

is maintenance different between semaglutide and the others or is that all anecdote

GC

update on the earlier thing whats a realistic amount of regain to accept rather than panic about

slightly off topic but am i the only one finding maintenance harder than losing was

⚠️6

while im here whats your rule for when a fluctuation becomes a regain

holidays at maintenance are fine, i take the dose on the day and stop thinking about it, not advice obviously

SB

coming down too fast was my mistake. top rung to the bottom rung inside a month and it was a bad month

i stayed at treatment dose for four months past goal and then came down slowly. that order was right for me

i tried to come down and could not hold it, went back to treatment dose, and stopped apologising for it

no official dose

GC

if you find maintenance harder than the losing part you are in the majority in this room

there is no official maintenance dose. it is a thing we do because the alternative on the table was stopping
i set a trigger weight instead of a target. if i cross it i go up a rung. that is my entire plan

i came off for four months, put 44 back on, and came back. no drama in it, just numbers

update from 2 months ago: still at maintenance, still boring, which was always the goal

Continued Treatment with Tirzepatide for Maintenance of Weight Reduction (SURMOUNT-4)
JAMA · 2024
Randomised withdrawal after a 36-week lead-in. Pairs with STEP 4.

food noise coming back at a lower dose settled again after about four weeks for me

appetite returning is not the drug failing, it is the drug doing less because you are taking less of it, ymmv

set a trigger weight

protein up not down

still at maintenance

i put 36 back on after stopping and then went back on it. it worked the same the second time round

TW

while im here i was wrong about maintenance being the easy part and i had said so loudly for a year beforehand

TW

the honest answer to is this forever is that nobody knows and the drug only works while you are taking it, ymmv
