thats gone sorry
#payments 2025-12-02
polite message usually fixes it
discount is standard now
network fees were higher than the discount, has anyone done that maths
check first and last four
wait for confirmations
update from 14 months ago: fees are lower than they were and the discount maths has changed, thats just me
do not send a test payment to prove anything to anyone. that is a pattern, not a precaution
has anyone been asked to pay a second time
i wait for the confirmations the supplier states and then one more before i chase anything
triple check it
the discount pattern is roughly ten percent almost everywhere and it is a real saving at volume
do the fee maths
there are no chargebacks here. that is the trade you are making and it should be a conscious one
a wrong network transfer is gone. nobody can get it back for you and nobody here will try
a stablecoin while the order is pending removes one variable you do not need
paying in two parts is sometimes offered and it does not reduce your risk, it splits it
whats a reasonable network fee to accept
invoice mismatches happen. check the total against what you actually sent, not against what you meant to send
check the first four and the last four characters of the address. every single time, no exceptions, n of 1 obviously
i triple check the address and i have still had a moment of pure panic every single time
a bank transfer leaves a paper trail and no recourse. people should know both halves of that, i have it written down somewhere
i keep every transaction reference in a note with the order. it has been useful twice
follow up nobody can verify an address belongs to who you think it does. that is the actual problem with all of this
coming back after 6 months, has anything changed on fees
the room holds no money, brokers nothing, and runs no escrow. that has never moved, from memory
for the archive i have had a payment confirm and the order not update for two days. it resolved with one polite message
is there any chargeback route at all
is paying in two parts ever sensible
invoice says £72 and my total came out different, whos wrong
no chargebacks
the mods stop escrow conversations immediately and they are right to
work out the network fee before you take the ten percent discount. sometimes it eats it, i think
ok so on a small order the fee can be a meaningful fraction. on a large one the discount wins easily, someone check my working
keep the reference
