#reconstitution 2024-08-31

Saturday18 messages4 participantstimes are UTC
Highlights from this day
  • u100_pat — aim the diluent at the glass wall, not at the powder. it goes in gentler 21:10
  • aliquot_ada — bacteriostatic water for anything multi-use. sterile water has no preservative in it at all 22:13
  • u100_pat — if the powder is on the stopper, tap it down before you add anything. it will still dissolve either way 22:52
  • u100_pat — i keep a spare vial of bac water in the fridge purely so i never rush the maths 23:36
  • u100_pat — you can absolutely just always use 2ml, and honestly most of us should 23:37

anyone worked out a recon volume that puts 2mg on a round unit mark

CH

the meniscus thing is real. read it at eye level or you are guessing by a unit either way

nobody here should be telling you a dose. we can check your arithmetic, thats a different thing

U1

if the maths gives you 13.7 units, change the volume. do not try to hit 13.7, ill dig out the number

U1

my 10mg vial weighed 11.4g on the jewellery scale, is that wrong

U1

while im here i write the mg/ml on the vial with a sharpie the moment i reconstitute it

read it at eye level

CH

for the archive took me a year to stop over-diluting. the measurement error at 4 units is worse than the convenience

the vacuum will pull it in. let it. fighting it is how you get a face full of aerosol

U1

while im here give it 7 minutes at room temperature before you decide it has not dissolved

AA

update from 13 months ago: switched to a single concentration and have not miscalculated since
