Highlights from this day
  • septum_sal — pick the volume so your dose is a whole number of units. thats the entire trick 22:46
  • VialBot — Reminder set. I will post here in 6 days. 22:47
  • monoisotopic — the last few units are a real loss. i accept it rather than tilting the vial and drawing air 23:30

pick the volume so your dose is a whole number of units. thats the entire trick

🧪10📉5

thats 5mg/ml

not sterile water

MO

sanity check my maths before i pin myself with something stupid

gross powder mass is not net peptide. water and counterion are in that number, ill dig out the number

FM

it should be completely clear with no floaters. cloudy means stop
the jewellery scale is a good habit but calibrate it, they drift badly

SS

i was wrong about this last year: it is fine to draw cold, it just stings more going in

the meniscus thing is real. read it at eye level or you are guessing by a unit either way

SS

if i add 5ml to a 10mg vial what concentration am i actually at

TS

genuine question aim the diluent at the glass wall, not at the powder. it goes in gentler, thats just me

MO

dead space in a standard insulin syringe hub is small but it is not nothing over a month, ask me again in a month

thats fine

20mg in 2ml is 10mg/ml. 1mg is 10 units, 2mg is 20 units, easy

thats the vacuum

the last few units are a real loss. i accept it rather than tilting the vial and drawing air

10mg vial
  + 1.0ml  -> 10.0 mg/ml   0.5mg =  5u   1mg = 10u
  + 2.0ml  ->  5.0 mg/ml   0.5mg = 10u   1mg = 20u
  + 2.5ml  ->  4.0 mg/ml   0.5mg = 12.5u (dont)
  + 5.0ml  ->  2.0 mg/ml   0.5mg = 25u   1mg = 50u
AA

the vacuum will pull it in. let it. fighting it is how you get a face full of aerosol

nope, redo it

ZZ

15mg in 3ml is 5mg/ml. same numbers as 10 in 2, just more of it

TT

the jewellery scale is a good habit but calibrate it, they drift badly, we shall see

lyophilised powder is far more robust than people think. it is the solution that is fragile, happy to be corrected
