#reconstitution 2026-03-17

Tuesday29 messages6 participantstimes are UTC
Highlights from this day
  • split_shipment — the powder is stuck to the stopper, do i care 19:18
  • LC_MS_Lena — do not add more bac water to an already reconstituted vial, you have lost track of the concentration 20:07
  • LC_MS_Lena — bacteriostatic water for anything multi-use. sterile water has no preservative in it at all 20:20
LM

gross powder mass is not net peptide. water and counterion are in that number

LM

how long after reconstituting before its actually dissolved

10mg vial
  + 1.0ml  -> 10.0 mg/ml   0.5mg =  5u   1mg = 10u
  + 2.0ml  ->  5.0 mg/ml   0.5mg = 10u   1mg = 20u
  + 2.5ml  ->  4.0 mg/ml   0.5mg = 12.5u (dont)
  + 5.0ml  ->  2.0 mg/ml   0.5mg = 25u   1mg = 50u

thats the vacuum

EM

my 10mg vial weighed 11.4g on the jewellery scale, is that wrong

ok so if you cannot read the mark confidently, your volume is too small. redo it at a lower concentration

LM

i use bac water even for a single-use vial because it stings less, which is not the reason it exists

read it at eye level

is it normal for the cake to look slightly collapsed on one side

check your maths

one unit is 0.01ml

the powder is stuck to the stopper, do i care

10mg vial
  + 1.0ml  -> 10.0 mg/ml   0.5mg =  5u   1mg = 10u
  + 2.0ml  ->  5.0 mg/ml   0.5mg = 10u   1mg = 20u
  + 2.5ml  ->  4.0 mg/ml   0.5mg = 12.5u (dont)
  + 5.0ml  ->  2.0 mg/ml   0.5mg = 25u   1mg = 50u

right so do you draw up with the same pin you inject with

LM

the last few units are a real loss. i accept it rather than tilting the vial and drawing air, ill dig out the number

EM

one unit is 0.01ml. 100 units is 1ml. everything else in this channel follows from that, take that with a pinch of salt

round numbers

LM

anyone worked out a recon volume that puts 10mg on a round unit mark

LM

do not add more bac water to an already reconstituted vial, you have lost track of the concentration

🔥10📈5📉5
EM

i was wrong about this last year: it is fine to draw cold, it just stings more going in

EM

unrelated but 10mg in 1ml is 10mg/ml, so 2.5mg is 25 units. thats the one i use

LM

if you draw up with a bigger pin and inject with a fresh one you lose a bit more to dead space

📈1🤝10

bacteriostatic water for anything multi-use. sterile water has no preservative in it at all

BS

if i add 2ml to a 2mg vial what concentration am i actually at
