if you draw up with a bigger pin and inject with a fresh one you lose a bit more to dead space

- lyophile_liv — update on the earlier thing is it normal for the cake to look slightly collapsed on one side 15:32
- pinch_not_stretch — benzyl alcohol is what makes it bacteriostatic. it is about 0.9% typically 15:57
- hydrate_hana — my 10mg vial weighed 11.4g on the jewellery scale, is that wrong 16:47
- truncation_tru — update from 18 months ago: switched to a single concentration and have not miscalculated since 19:09
- truncation_tru — the meniscus thing is real. read it at eye level or you are guessing by a unit either way 21:05
write the date on
whats the smallest volume you would trust yourself to measure on a u100
check your maths
im getting bubbles in the barrel every single time, what am i doing wrong
bacteriostatic water for anything multi-use. sterile water has no preservative in it at all, thats one data point
bac water
lyophilised powder is far more robust than people think. it is the solution that is fragile
update on the earlier thing is it normal for the cake to look slightly collapsed on one side
10mg in 2ml is 5mg/ml. so 0.5mg is 0.1ml which is 10 units on a u100
bac water or sterile water for something im going into weekly for 9 weeks
the vacuum will pull it in. let it. fighting it is how you get a face full of aerosol
dead space
weigh it first
foam is bad
unrelated but if you cannot read the mark confidently, your volume is too small. redo it at a lower concentration, thats just me
a 3ml syringe for the diluent and a u100 for the dose is the setup most people here end up with, still working it out
thats fine
benzyl alcohol is what makes it bacteriostatic. it is about 0.9% typically
give it 8 minutes at room temperature before you decide it has not dissolved
i was wrong about this last year: it is fine to draw cold, it just stings more going in
anyone worked out a recon volume that puts 1.7mg on a round unit mark
not sterile water
does it matter if i inject the bac water straight at the powder
temperature of the diluent does not matter. how fast you push it in does
yep 10 units
does benzyl alcohol matter if im finishing the vial in one go
sorry to jump in i use bac water even for a single-use vial because it stings less, which is not the reason it exists
my 10mg vial weighed 11.4g on the jewellery scale, is that wrong
weighing the vial before you reconstitute is the only way to catch an underfill
i keep a spare vial of bac water in the fridge purely so i never rush the maths
nobody here should be telling you a dose. we can check your arithmetic, thats a different thing
it should be completely clear with no floaters. cloudy means stop
i swirl for about thirty seconds and then leave it. never had one fail to dissolve, i could be wrong
thats the vacuum
pick the volume so your dose is a whole number of units. thats the entire trick, i think
is the meniscus reading actually a real source of error or am i overthinking
my rule is one concentration for everything so i never have to think about it at 7am
one unit is 0.01ml
the last few units are a real loss. i accept it rather than tilting the vial and drawing air, i think
30mg in 3ml is 10mg/ml, so 5mg is 50 units. half the barrel, feels like a lot but its right
gross powder mass is not net peptide. water and counterion are in that number
update from 18 months ago: switched to a single concentration and have not miscalculated since
round numbers
dead space in a standard insulin syringe hub is small but it is not nothing over a month
the meniscus thing is real. read it at eye level or you are guessing by a unit either way
