- courier_vs_post — the door swings four or five degrees every time somebody opens it. the back barely moves 20:34
- tga_notice — reconstituted solution is the fragile part. that is where the cold chain actually earns its keep 21:48
- vacuum_vic — right so power cut for 5 hours, fridge stayed shut, am i fine 22:26
coming back to this a cooler with two gel packs held under eight degrees for eleven hours on a drive
does the amber vial thing matter or is it marketing
unrelated but a liquid cold pack tells you it was above freezing, not that your vial cooked
is there a difference in stability between the compounds
unrelated but i freeze aliquots and have had them test fine afterwards. others here would not do it and i understand why
my fridge is running at 3.1, is that out of range
freezing reconstituted peptide is the one thing this channel has never agreed on, anyway
freeze debate again
buy a thermometer. mine reads 7.4 on the door and two degrees lower at the back
sorry to jump in how long is reconstituted actually good for at room temperature
power cut with the door shut for a few hours is fine. a full fridge holds temperature surprisingly well
hotel minibars are frequently not cold enough. i take a thermometer, which is ridiculous and also correct
light exposure matters much less than temperature for these. i still keep them in the carton
i keep everything at the back of the middle shelf, never the door
is a five pound fridge thermometer actually worth it
log it
the vial that visibly changed after a warm transit was the one that had already been reconstituted
anyone tested a vial before and after a bad transit
i log the fridge temperature daily and the room has never let me forget it
unopened and in-use in the same place is fine. just keep the in-use one where you can reach it
for flying, hand luggage every time. the hold is not temperature controlled the way people assume
test it
reconstituted solution is the fragile part. that is where the cold chain actually earns its keep
lyophilised at room temp for 11 days in transit, worried or not
two to eight degrees. most domestic fridge doors are not in that range and people do not check
my fridge is 7.4
the practical risk in winter shipping is freezing, and in summer it is heat. plan for the season you are in
update from 14 months ago: replaced the fridge, temperature is stable, no more anxiety
i left a reconstituted vial out overnight once, sent it for testing out of curiosity, it came back fine
nobody here can tell you a vial is safe. we can tell you what has and has not survived for us, happy to be corrected
[edited]lyophilised powder is genuinely robust. a warm transit is far less likely to matter than people fear, not advice obviously
two to eight
anyone had a vial visibly change after a warm transit
door shelf or back of the fridge
right so power cut for 5 hours, fridge stayed shut, am i fine
while im here do you log the fridge temperature or is that too far
does anyone freeze reconstituted vials or is that madness
i keep everything at the back of the middle shelf, never the door
i would bin it
freeze thaw cycling is the risk, not one freeze. that is my read of it anyway, happy to be corrected
back of the fridge
while im here best travel setup for 5 days away with vials
i left it out overnight by accident, bin it or use it
hand luggage
if you are worried after a bad transit, test it. that is what the testing channels are for, your mileage will differ
do i need to worry about light exposure or is that overthinking
how do you keep it cold on a long drive in summer
not the door
buy a thermometer
gel packs
powder is robust
i would use it
