Highlights from this day
  • private_script_pri — a private prescription in the uk was dispensable at any pharmacy willing to take it, in my experience of it 18:11
  • knees_first — for the archive unlicensed in mhra terms means there is no uk marketing authorisation for that product. it is not the same as illegal and it is not the same as approved 20:39
  • slow.taper — does the two year wait figure people quote come from anywhere real 20:58
AN

the honest position on uk policy is that it moved four times in the two years i have been paying attention

PS

driving never came up for me at all and i would ask a clinician rather than take my word on it

PS

update from 6 months ago: my clinic price went up by $38 and the supply steadied in the same month

PS

off label and unlicensed get used interchangeably in here and they are different. off label is a licensed product used outside its licence, for what its worth

KF

border force stopped a parcel of mine and sent a letter, and that was the whole of it. no follow up and no knock at the door

SB

i rang eleven pharmacies and the twelfth had it. that was one winter, and it is not a strategy, happy to be corrected

pharmacy has had nothing for three weeks, is that everywhere or just my bit of the country

[edited]

that was 2024

SB

i have never been asked for id at a pharmacy for this and other members here have, so it seems to be down to the individual pharmacist, thats one data point

SB

for the archive anyone had a parcel stopped by border force and what actually happened next

private clinic quoted me $120 a month, is that about right or am i being had

ST

has anyone been asked for id at a pharmacy counter for this

SB

ireland runs its own reimbursement system and as best i understood it a year ago the picture there was less generous than people expect

ST

cheapest legitimate route i found was a pharmacy led online service, and cheapest is only one axis of that decision

VV

the shortage was upstream of the pharmacies as far as anyone here could tell, and shouting at counter staff achieved nothing

scotland ran a different process from england when i looked into it, and a member there reported a shorter wait

🙏1

what does unlicensed actually mean when the mhra uses the word

ST

coming back after 18 months, is the nhs picture any better

ask your gp

ST

whats the position on driving, is there anything anyone had to declare
i paid £240 a month at a private clinic in 2024 and the price went up twice while i was with them

vat was not charged on the private prescription i saw, but i am the wrong person to ask about tax, ymmv

VV

i paid €72 a month at a private clinic in 2024 and the price went up twice while i was with them

ST

how many pharmacies do people ring before giving up for the day

SB

the seizure letters members have had here have been letters and nothing else, but that is our sample rather than a guarantee

DD

a member in dublin said their pharmacy supply was steadier than mine in england, which surprised both of us, take that with a pinch of salt

SB

as of when i last looked, nhs access ran through specialist weight management services and the criteria were tight

SB

there was a two year limit in the nhs guidance i read. what happened at the end of it was not clear to me then and may be clearer now, happy to be corrected

anyone moved from a private clinic to nhs or the other way round

KF

i moved from private to nhs and the handover was messy. one experience in one area, nothing more than that

ST

does the two year wait figure people quote come from anywhere real

ST

gp said they cant prescribe it at all, is that national or a local budget thing

ST

the criteria included a bmi threshold plus comorbidities when i read them, and they have been revised since, so check rather than trust me

prices have moved since

KF

the tier 3 referral needed my gp to actually make it, and that turned out to be harder than meeting the criteria

🧪1

off label is different

an irish member told me their out of pocket cost was noticeably higher than the uk equivalent when they compared in 2024

the private quotes i collected last spring ran from about 130 to about 250 a month depending on dose, and that will have moved since
