eleven vials, one code sheet, and a result nobody expected
The first pooled results came back and the interesting finding was not purity. Purity was fine almost everywhere. Content was where the spread lived, and one source came in consistently low across two lots while looking immaculate on area percent. The room had built its whole reading habit around the wrong column for about eight months and said so out loud.

What happened
- Purity came back above ninety-eight percent for every sample in the pool, which made the content figures much harder to argue away.
- Two lots from one source assayed low against label while the chromatograms looked clean, which is exactly the failure mode the room had just learned to look for.
- Nobody was accused of anything: a consistent shortfall across two lots is a manufacturing and filling problem, and the channel kept the words separate.
- The supplier concerned was contacted, replied within four days, and asked for the lot numbers, which the room considered a good sign.
- The writeup carried the chain-of-custody caveat in the first paragraph rather than buried at the bottom, and that has been the format ever since.
