december, and the room starts talking about barbecues

The seasonal split got funny this fortnight. Half the room was planning how to survive a Christmas dinner on a small appetite, and the other half was watching a heat wave and wondering whether to pause ordering until March. Both conversations were about the same thing, which is that this stuff does not fit neatly into anybody calendar.

What happened

  • Australian members advised pausing orders until autumn rather than gambling a shipment on a summer transit, which several people took.
  • Northern members swapped strategies for a large family meal with early satiety, and the practical suggestions were better than the reassuring ones.
  • A member described refusing to explain their medication to a relative and got the pinned reminder that nobody owes anybody that explanation.
  • Alcohol hitting harder than expected was raised by three people independently and turned into a useful, unscientific consensus.
  • quiet.hours reminded the mental-health channel that the holidays are hard for reasons that have nothing to do with food, and left it there.
